How to start, grow, and run a business during COVID-19: Part 1
F.E.A.R. is an illusion. Something we fabricate in our own minds and pretend is real. It’s a fairy tale we tell ourselves that keeps us from doing what we really want. ~ Brian Clark
The coronavirus pandemic has had a devastating impact on businesses, with the service industry, the sharing economy, and other sectors hit especially hard. Now, more than ever, innovation is critical.
The world needs innovation, widely spread ownership and diverse firms that adapt fast to society’s needs. That is the really enlightened kind of capitalism. ~ The Economist
As we start thinking of how to reimagine the post-pandemic organisation and build 21st century companies, it’s clear that the future of capitalism, commerce, and cash depends on small businesses and solo entrepreneurs.
SMEs [small and medium-sized enterprises] account for two-thirds of global employment and half of global GDP. A failure to protect them could put the entire global economy at risk. ~ McKinsey
So, if you’re ready to turn chaos into creativity, now’s a great time to launch something new. Yes, it’s scary to start a business when there’s so much uncertainty in the world, but there’s no reason to let it hold you back. Instead, it’s better to see yourself in a different light.
The real you is a winner, a risk-taker, a decision-maker. The real you is willing to adapt and change, whether in the face of a worldwide pandemic or anything else. The real you is eager to get going, ready or not. The real you chooses to live actively, not passively. ~ Chris Guillebeau
What does it take to succeed in the world of COVID-19? First, it helps if you’re providing a digital product or service that people can access remotely. Second, it’s good to act fast rather than waiting for the perfect moment. Third, as much as luck matters, you have to work hard.
You can’t have everything you want. But, if you care enough and trade enough and work hard enough, you might be able to get some things that matter. ~ Seth Godin
So, instead of worry about the perfect idea, just think about what the world needs right now. For example, while some people have been making money by selling fake products like 'hydroxychloroquine tea', others are doing well by providing essential services, from masks to gloves and everything in-between.
We can create the wealth of goodwill every time we’re near other people. It’s valued by everyone, and it’s free to create and circulate. When others receive your goodwill, their position in the economy improves. With this new wealth, they can create and distribute more wealth, and so on, and society prospers. ~ David Cain
